The American Revolution was a political disturbance that happened between 1765 and 1783 during which colonists in the Thirteen American Colonies disallowed the British monarchy and aristocracy. Which they then overthrew the authority of Great Britain, and founded the United States of America. Beginning in 1765, members of the American colonial society prohibited the authority of the British to tax them without colonial representatives in the government. The Patriot leadership professed the political values of liberalism and republicanism to discard monarchy and aristocracy, and proclaimed that all men are created equal. Congress rejected British plans requiring allegiance to the monarchy and rejection of independence. As a result of protests by colonists, there was the Boston Tea Party in 1773 during which patriots destroyed a batch of taxed tea from the Parliament which controlled and favored East India Company. The people wanted to be heard, they didn’t want to be controll ed. The colonists wanted a say in what goes on in their country because that’s why many came to America, they wanted to escape the harsh environment of the tyrants who lead their country. The American Revolution is a significant topic in U.S. history because it had meaning even outside the North American continent.
